Red Ninja is a design-led technology company, grown in Liverpool but working internationally. Working extensively in the health sector, Red Ninja believes in collaboration in exploring practice and need among end users before putting those ideas into development. Helping Hand, an age friendly app and easy-to-use customised tablet interface helps older people who love online shopping to feel connected. The ideas first grew from the UK’s first Adult Social Care Hack Day which Red Ninja attended and listened to the challenges being faced by health and social care practitioners around digital exclusion and loneliness. Peace of Mind is an innovative and ambient sensor system designed to detect and prevent falls. Red Ninja entered that system into the first North West Digital Health Challenge.

CEO Lee Omar explains how Red Ninja has worked with the eHealth Cluster.

“The expertise and knowledge from Rosemary, Cate and the team has allowed us to understand the complex landscape of the NHS and understand the procurement opportunities in terms of product development. Best practice is an industry standard and we have woven that into our work in the health sector.

Most of our work with the cluster itself has been around product development. We’re currently working internally on an IP product and getting that ready for market. Rosemary and Cate have been on hand to advise us on compliance and ensuring the product is fit for purpose. It’s like a consultancy. They’ve also been really good at connecting us with other partners and stakeholders we’ve been working with, especially on research and development.

Through the eHealth cluster we have won contracts with the CCG and More Independent. We’ve been able to create two new jobs working specifically in this sector. Rosemary, in particular, has helped to connect us with organisations from the social care sector to work with, like Liverpool Care Home Partnership.

I think the eHealth cluster has put Liverpool’s digital SMEs on the map. It has broadened our horizons and helped us to explore new markets.
