www.orcha.co.uk

There is growing evidence that health and care apps can improve outcomes for populations however, there is currently little independent review to ensure their effectiveness, safety or value to users and professionals. This limits user and professional confidence and constrains the opportunity for the UK population to take advantage of apps to address major health demographic issues while potentially reducing load on public resources. The sheer scale of emerging apps in this key area also actively inhibits the use of these services, as patients, carers and their health and care professionals struggle to find the right solutions. Finding a clear and trusted pathway through these congested waters is a critical enabler of any wider digital health strategy. ORCHA provides the solution. It delivers a clear and robust approach to the review, validation and dissemination of these services and through this core capability creates an attractive powerful and multifaceted digital health hub that patients, carers, health and care professionals and developers themselves are all able to utilise to drive this critical agenda.

Dysphagia (swallowing disorder) can cause choking, malnutrition, dehydration, aspiration, pneumonia and death. It is estimated to affect 8% of the general population and is prevalent among the elderly, particularly following stroke and in the end stage of dementia. Over 50% of nursing home residents have dysphagia. One of the most common ways to manage dysphagia is to thicken drinks. But it is important to provide drinks of the correct consistency for each individual – not too thin and not too thick. Currently there is no practical, reliable, cost-effective way to accurately test that a drink is at the prescribed consistency.

Viscgo Limited are developing an innovative, low-cost, quick, easy and simple drink thickness tester to make sure that each and every drink is at the prescribed consistency.

www.digipharm.io

Digipharm has built a pioneering blockchain-based platform for value-based contracting of
healthcare technologies and healthcare services. In healthcare there is a clear shift to payments using ‘value-based’ approach, where the price paid is determined by performance, for example, patient benefits and real-life patient outcomes.

This approach to healthcare payments is not just relevant for pharmaceuticals or drug treatments; pricing agreements and contracting for medical devices and healthcare services have also been shifting to an approach based on outcomes and key performance indicators. However one of the biggest limiting factors is the infrastructural limitations that are experienced when implementing these types of agreements.

Since patient data and patient outcomes is used to determine the cost of care, Digipharm uses blockchain technology to create a medical information infrastructure that enables trust and a synchronized overview in these outcomes for all contracting parties. Digipharm’s smart contracts coded in the blockchain also remove the administrative burden of tracking and executing these agreements.

Digipharm also enable the collection of Patient Reported Outcome Measures remotely via their Digihealth application and offer full ICHOM standard set deployment capabilities.
